The National Chairman of Chadema, Freeman Mbowe was yesterday discharged from the Muhimbili National Hospital, where he was admitted on Monday.
Senior Public Relation Officer at MNH, Aminieli Aligaesha confirmed the development yesterday when briefing reporters on the health condition of the opposition party leader.
“We have discharged Mbowe from the hospital after we were sure that he is well and can continue with his duties,” the official said.
Earlier, the party’s spokesperson, Tumaini Makene said Mbowe’s condition is improving; “it is not a major issue anymore...he will be out at any time from now,” he had reassured supporters.
On Monday, the opposition party leader was admitted to the referral hospital after falling ill during a rally held in honour of the party’s Presidential candidate, Edward Lowassa who had just collected the election forms from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) offices.
MNH cardiologist Dr Tulizo Sanga told reporters that Mbowe was suffering from fatigue and exhaustion.
Dr Sanga explained that fatigue and exhaustion can be caused by many factors, some being extended working hours and improper diet.
“We admitted him here since Monday evening to watch him for 48 hours so that he can get time to rest and for his condition to improve,” he said.
At the hospital, Mbowe was under the care of eight specialists, among them four from the emergency department and others from the Cardiac Institute.
