Every workplace has rules to follow. No matter what your job title entails, you still have to follow these standards, even if others don't.
Don't Steal
In grade school you learned that stealing was bad. If you take someone else's lunch out of the communal fridge because it looks better than yours, it is stealing and just plain wrong. Don't kid yourself into thinking someone won't notice if you snag a cookie from their stash, either.
Eating Smelly Food
That person who decides to cook bacon in the microwave or have tuna for lunch? The worst. Just the worst.
Loudly Discussing TV Shows
We live in the age of the DVR people. Kindly remember that not everyone watches a show live.
Using BCC
BCC, or blind carbon copy, can be useful, but more and more often, people use it to be sneaky and trap someone into saying something incriminating.
Taking Last Cup of Coffee Without Making More
It's courteous to make another pot of coffee if you take the last cup. It only takes a minute, and then it will be ready for the next person to enjoy.
Taking Calls In the Bathroom
No one wants to hear your business while they're doing their business. Be prepared for your personal calls to be used against you if you do.
Leaving Messes
Whether you're using the shredder or in the middle of a messy project, don't forget to clean up after yourself. It takes the effort of everyone in the office to keep it clean.
Stealing Pens
While most people do this accidentally, try not to steal co-workers' pens. It will only start a vicious cycle...and you'll be stuck with a bunch of highlighters.
Not Restocking The Fridge
So you take the last Mountain Dew from the fridge, notice that there's a box of room temperature ones in the kitchen, and walk away. You're the worst kind of person.
Incorrectly Using Reply All
Don't be surprised if you hear audible groans from your coworkers once when you send that question only relevant to you to the whole marketing distro.
Oversharing
You may have some friends at work, but don't make the mistake of sharing every single detail about your life to anyone who makes the mistake of listening to you.
Dress Appropriately
Even if your office has a casual Friday, you still cannot show up at work in your stained sweats that you have not washed in weeks. Make sure you dress yourself in clothing that makes you look professional and ready for working the day away. Strapless dresses? NOPE
